Of course it is. When a marketer pays for a link, they are essentially “buying a vote” for the page they are promoting. That link would not exist except that it was paid for. This gives extra weight to the promoted page in the search engine algorithms. The paid-for link does not itself add extra value to visitors, so the technique must be black hat.

What’s the point of reprinting this?
Most of the folks that ridicule blackhat techniques buy links.
And they know that buying links is against Google’s TOS and Google’s Webmaster Guidelines, but they rationalize it so that in their own minds they are pure and innocent.
If you buy links, you are a slimy, cheating blackhat like me.
have a nice day,

Great blog! I’m adding you to my links.
Good job on your site. I have been actively trying to improve my SEO tactics for my identity theft site and your site helps a lot. I have never been pro or against buying links, but I heard Google is trying to hunt down link farms. Is this true?
Hey,
Very nice blog and thank you for dropping by at my blog.
Yatie
I have been trying to improve my SEO for my site and it’s good to hear what others have to say. Iam not sure what to think about buying links, but I don’t have the money to buy them anyway.
Thank you for dropping by at my blog.
Nice site
You visited my site http://www.UrlAcademy.com today so I’m returining the favour !
keep up the great work
“I heard Google is trying to hunt down link farms. Is this true?”
@Identity Theft Blog
It is somewhat true because last year, (or the year before), Google announced that reciprocal linking is manipulative and therefore against their guidelines.
However, I doubt they are putting any effort whatsoever into a “hunting down” process.
They could probably locate link farms pretty easy if they wanted to. It is easier for them to enlist the help of choirboy, Goody Two-Shoes, webmasters that will report link farms with Google’s spam report form.
thanks for your question,
Bompa
Woah, what a coincidence… I came into this post of yours because you have recently commented on my blog. And I am wearing the same Black hat you have posted here on this post. Anyway, thanks for dropping by to my blog and you got a good SEO content that are helpful to bloggers like me.
Cheers,
Rob
Who doesn’t buy links?
Great blog - thanks for the useful info and dropping by my site http://www.interiordesigninspiration.com
Very good information, didn’t know buying links is wrong.
Too right!
I hate the hating on Black Hat from those who are too retarded to even know what constitutes White Hat.
