Free Linkbait Advice #7 - Girl Chokes on Microphone!

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

Hi Bompa,

Looks like you have some great advice. Any suggestions for my blog on public speaking and personal development?

Thanks,

James

http://blog.jvf.com

Hi James,

I see that you will be giving a free workshop in Westboro, Ma. I was raised in Westboro 1st grade through high school. :D

I’m living in the Philippines now, so I guess I’ll miss your clam bake. :D

Anyways, linkbait for your public speaking blog.

James, assume that the titles of your blog posts will be showing up somewhere in the search engines or on someone else’s blog, or even in some forum.

You want the title to do more than catch their attention, you want the title to be irresisible; they will just have to click on it.

So, “Girl Chokes on Microphone!” will cause people to click the link.

“Yah, but it’s a fake headline, and I don’t do that stuff”.

No, it’s not a fake headline if you work it gently into your post with something like:

“Folks, wouldn’t you be horrified to actually read that headline in your daily newspaper?”

or

“Fortunately, the girl did not actually swallow the mic, but as soon as she went live on the mic, she forgot her whole speech”.

So, the blog title should be somewhat of a shocker, then the first line of the post makes a transition into the actual material.

I decided to rewrite a few of your blog’s Titles in order to give you the idea. To make my ideas more realistic, I will include my attempt of a opening transition line.

Your title: Public Speaking Success: The 80/20 Rule of Speech Preparation
Rewritten: 80% of Speeches Are Never Heard!
(Because 80% of the speech is in the prep before the speech is given)

Your Title: Public Speaking Success: The Pregnant Pause
Rewitten: Americans are Getting Pregnant On Stage!
(by utilizing what some call the pregnant pause, more speeches are getting pregnant)

Your Title: Tips for Toastmasters: Five Tips for Successful Meetings:
Rewritten: Toastmasters Get Tipsy!

If you need help with your next title, give me a shout, only $100 for 5 rewrites/title. ;)

good luck,

Free Linkbait Advice #6 - Nude Man Posing as a God!

Saturday, October 11th, 2008

kollam Says:
September 25th, 2008 at 12:44 am edit

how can u help me in this

Hi Kollam,

Sure, linkbait is just the constuctive use of one’s imagination.

First, I think the content of your site is on the right track, at least based on it’s description:

“Movies, Music, Funny , Sexy Videos,Reality shows, Amazing Videos, all in one place !!!”

All of that is linkbait!

However, I suggest that you put more imagination into your post’s titles.

This one for example: “Funny Indian Idol Audition Of A Nude Guy”. That title is a good description of the video, and that’s the problem. Your blog titles should not follow the rules set by the gurus, such as:

Describe the content as accurate as possible
Be honest, do not be misleading,
etc, etc.

That won’t work.

The purpose of a blog title is to GET TRAFFIC and there is no other purpose. Once the traffic arrives, it’s up to your content to keep their attention. Of course, blatent lies will be short lived, but your title rewritten as I have in this post will attract more traffic and it’s close enough to reality. :D

Your blog is all in your native tongue. Unless, you REALLY want to target only Indians, I suggest that you write in English. If you are not good with English, you could find someone to help you by proof reading your posts, or maybe rewrite them for you. If you can not afford this, you might try to swap some of your skills with his. Give him a link or whatever. Think of what you have that you can offer.

Truly, you are eliminating 90% of the world by writing in only your native tongue. I was going to rewrite some more of your post titles, but I can’t even read them. :)

good luck,

Free Linkbait Advice #5 - Wholesale Canvas Tote Bags Manufacturer.

Monday, September 29th, 2008

Tote Bags?

This is not getting any easier! :D

Ashan Says:
September 21st, 2008 at 6:31 am edit

hey Bompa!!

I am a wholesale canvas tote bags manufacturer.. Is there a way I could do a linkbait?

I took a look at Google’s results for “wholesale canvas tote bags” and they were as boring as I expected.

Ashan, if your site is one of the top ten, sorry, but the webmasters of those sites, don’t have a creative bone in their bodies. It’s like all they can think of is to show a few pictures of tote bags and that’s it.

I saw dozens and dozens of tote bags and I think I saw only two girls and one of those was too small to see well. You need to put some GIRLS on the page with the tote bags! The pictures of girls should be large enough to easily see how pretty they are. The girls should be wearing spring dresses or summer dresses or maybe shorts.

They should look happy to be carrying one of your tote bags.

That’s link bait?

Hell yes man!

Guys love pretty girls! Women love pretty girls!

Everyone loves looking at pretty girls and they will come back to YOUR site rather than continue to shop around. If ever asked for a recommendation, they will refer your site over the boring alternatives. They will refer your site by placing a link in forums or on the bookmarking sites.

Free Linkbait Advice #4 - Hawaii Real Estate Blog Attracts Thousands!

Saturday, September 27th, 2008

Joe Says:

Wow!

Here’s the challenge: linkbait for a Hawaii Real Estate blog. I’ve been trying to come up with something clever for months now, maybe you can think of something.

Sure Joe.

I admit, at first, I was stumped. Who the hell would want to link to a Hawaii Real Estate blog? Visit it sure and add it to one’s favorites if one is interested in purchasing, but LINK TO IT? Pffffft.

I took a look at a few blogs listed in Google for “hawaii real estate blog” and I’m tellin’yah, BOOOOORRRING!

My first move would not be link bait, but traffic bait.

Some interesting content for gawd’s sake!

I would start posting lists such as:
Top Ten Hawaii Real Estate Salesmen (residential)
Top Ten Hawaii Real Estate Salesmen (property)
Top Ten Hawaii Real Estate Salesmen (business)
etc etc

Then:
Best Five Reasons to Move to Hawaii
7 Reasons Single Men Love Living in Hawaii
3 Reasons Beautiful Women Flock To Hawaii
5 Ways to Get Married in Hawaii
etc etc

Geesus! At least give people a reason to read a blog.

Anyways, It took me about an hour to come up with something.

My idea would be to do a parody of real estate property sales of Pearl Harbor as it was when it was bombed out. Get some pictures of bombed out houses, buildings, etc, put a price tag on them. LOL

You could have lots of fun writing the descriptions:

4th Street House For Sale:
Very large open air balcony, excellent view of sky, etc. etc.

Since Hawaii is also known for it’s beaches and ocean recreation, you could also have sales like:

Very Large Yacht For Sale, good on diesel fuel, sleeps 1200, needs new hull.

If you work in an office, this could be an all day picker-upper, keeping everyone awake and smiling with new Pearl Harbor property jokes.

Of course, your first reaction might be that this is in bad taste, not professional, and might offend some people. RIGHT!

That’s the best kind of bait. :D

But, this type of link bait need not be seen by your normal prospects, these pages would be just to get webmasters to link to you; then your link juice will get passed from these pages to your main page.

Whatever you come up with, you need to give them a reason to link to you!

Something that is funny and slighty outrageous could do the trick.

Good luck,
Thank you for requesting link bait advice from Blackhatbootcamp.com :)

Free Link Bait Advice #3 - Bomb Proof Interior Design in Israel Shocks Neighbors!

Sunday, September 21st, 2008

Shira Says:
September 18th, 2008 at 5:28 pm edit

I have a blog about interior design in Israel. Any suggestions?

Hi Shira, thank you for requesting free link bait advice.

This is probably in bad taste, but as an American, the first thing that comes to my mind would be making light of the travesty of the bombs and other violence in that region; the humor hook. Of course, if it offends anyone, all the better, LOL.

A wall mural which gives the illusion of gazing into a bombed out bedroom/spareroom, or whatever.

A carpet that looks like a bomb crater.

A door with a silhouette of a security guard.

Maybe I’m thinking art rather than “design”, but remember, this is all about getting attention and back links.

Role-Playing Game e-Commerce Site Requests Linkbait Advice From Blackhatbootcamp.com

Saturday, September 20th, 2008

Hunter’s request is next in line:

Love to here what you will come up with for my site. It is an e-commerce site selling accounts for mmorpg.

I had no idea of the meaning of MMORPG.

Checking Google, I found Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game via wikipedia.org

One thing that sorta jumped off the wiki page was the Bartle Test Of Gamer Psychology. I even decided to take the test myself just for the check up from the neck up. :)

Bartle Test of Gamer Psychology

I would write a parody of their test or a similar test but for fun only.

I remember, way back, when I was spending all my time on IRC there was a funny list of items like “You Know You’re Chatting Too Much IF…” with humorous endings.

I started a thread like that on syndk8.net, my favorite blackhat forum. It was like, “You Know You’re Spending Too Much Time on Syndk8 IF…”

I wrote a few to start the thread, then other members jumped in, it was funny as hell.

Back to your MMORPG e-commerce site.

Here’s an example from the Bartle Test…

Which would you rather do:

Getting to a certain experience level faster than anyone else
Solve a riddle no one else has gotten

The multiple choice answers might be rewritten like:

When you’re not gaining points, which would you rather do:
1. Toss your PC out the window in frustration
2. Slam you fist threw your monitor.
3. Switch to a game of Tic-Tac-Toe

Ok, not very funny, but you get the idea. You know the people and the gamers, I do not. You need to get into their heads in order to experience what makes them laugh regarding gaming.

As Matt Cutts says about linkbait and getting quality back links… be creative. By the way, Matt Cutts is #1 in Google for “the link bait king“.

Free Link Bait Service Earns Quality Links for Blackhatbootcamp.com Readers!

Friday, September 19th, 2008

Yipes!

Well, I opened my big mouth and promised to give free link bait advice to anyone that requested it.

The main problem that I have created for myself is that, normally, one would be extremely familiar with the site where the bait will be as well as all the competition, but I think there is not even time in the day for me to research all these niches, plus I am not always given a real site that I can look at and brainstorm with.

Oh well, here goes…

Lyndon’s request was first with his hypothetical carpet cleaning business.

OK, lets try out the service. I need some linkbait ideas for a carpet cleaning company. What do you suggest?

Hi Lyndon, thank you for you request. :)

The first thing that comes to mind is a photo of a huge pile of dirt, crud, mud, cow shit, or whatever, smack dab in the middle of a beautifully carpeted high class furniture showroom!

Just put the photo on your site and the photo, in itself, would be the linkbait because people love to link to crazy, outrageous pics.

On a commercial site, such as a carpet cleaning business, you’d need to give the link bait campaign a pretty good kick start. I would join forums of all types and have something like “Largest Pile of Cowshit in the World!” as my signature; clickbait!

You could also submit the photo to some of the photo sharing places online. Get a few links to it and it might get picked up.

Of course, you can go further with the pic on your site; a caption, bragging about how well you cleaned the pile of shit up, etc etc, but the bait, imo, is just the pic.

Thank you and come again,
Bompa

Lyndon Antcliff Charges $400/Hour for Linkbait Coaching - I Do It For FREE!!!

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

It’s true that Lyndon Antcliff of cornwallseo.com charges corporate clients $400 PER HOUR with a 10 hour minimum and it’s true that he has started a more personal service for smaller business’ where you can avail yourself of his expert linkbait coaching for only $400/mo.

That probably sounds like a lot of money, but that only depends on one’s advertising budget and one’s expected ROI. I know internet marketers that have spent $400 on the xrumer program and although it has helped them, it didn’t get their sites all ranking top ten.

Good linkbait is an attention grabber and causes other webmasters to WANT to link to you. Regarding your website promotion, there is just nothing better than juicy link bait.

And keep in mind that linkbait does not always have to be a written article or “breaking news”. It could be a puzzle, a mesmerizing image, a list, a secret, or some sort of freebie.

So, although I do recommend Lyndon’s expert linkbait coaching, I am also offering my non-expert coaching right here on this blog FOR FREE!.

Just comment on this post with your site, I’ll check it out, and come up with some linkbait ideas for you, for FREE!

Why Programmers Are Broke and Marketers Earn Millions!

Sunday, September 14th, 2008

A comment appeared today from CuriousSEO for a post that I wrote Tuesday, June 10th, 2008. The post was about getting traffic the easy way; what I call: “trafficbait”.

Here is a snippet of his comment:

So the question I’m getting at…if I am not a techgeek (note not LAZY, but just not wired to be a computer programmer), am I out of my league here?

His entire comment and original post:

@CuriousSEO

Not at all. Most guys that I know do not program at all.

Programming can be an advantage, but it’s just a waste of time if the webmaster is not creative. That is the SECRET SAUCE to success online; creativity. Do a search for “link bait”…

Matt Cutts, Google engineer, says:
“On a meta-level, I think of ‘linkbait’ as something interesting enough to catch people’s attention, and that doesn’t have to be a bad thing”

So, link bait, is coming up with an idea that people can not resist, it’s just TOO GOOD to not check out. Then you implement that idea with a blog title and a few good back links. No programming required.

Look at Mark Zuckerberg, the youngest billioniare in the world! True, he was a student at MIT when he started Facebook, but it was his IDEA that spread around the web like wildfire, not his programming skills.

There are hundreds of examples everyday. Look at the Titles on Reddit.com, digg.com and such.

Anyways, yes, you can outsource programming. There are several sites that specialize in that stuff. Also, join forums and you can usually find a good programmer that is broke and needs some cash. LOL. Programmers, by their very nature are NOT creative, (they are methodical and systematic), but they are usually not creative in the sense of link bait and salesmanship. (of course, there are exceptions to that)

Syndk8.net is probably the oldest and biggest blackhat search engine spammers forum; it’s founder, EarlGrey, who was written about in NewsWeek magazine does not write a line of code. He knows how time consuming programming can be. Instead, he puts his energy into coming up with new, interesting, and sometimes, crazy-sounding ideas. He does well.

Here are a few ideas from cornwallseo.com

Here’s a guy that charges $400/hour to give you link bait advice. LMFAO

Think out of the box.

Think of the craziest wildest things that you can imagine.

Go crazy with this.

Make it a game you play!
